The Ontario approach

Eavestroughs, Gutters & Downspouts, done the way it should be in Wood Hill.

Eavestrough failure is the single most common cause of foundation damage we see in Ontario. A blocked or undersized trough dumps hundreds of litres of rain straight onto the soil against the wall during every storm. Over a decade, that is enough to crack concrete, wash out fill and rot fascia timber from the inside.

We manufacture seamless aluminium troughs on-site to the exact length of your roof line. No joins means no leak points. The trough is sized to your actual roof area (5" or 6" depending on the rainfall load), hung with hidden hangers at 600mm centres so it never sags, and connected to correctly-sized downspouts routed at least 1.8 metres away from the foundation.

Beyond new installs, we clean, re-hang, re-seal and retrofit leaf guards on existing systems. Spring and autumn maintenance plans are available for properties with overhanging trees.

How often should eavestroughs be cleaned?
Twice a year as standard, spring and late autumn after leaf drop. More often if you have overhanging trees. We offer maintenance plans.
What size eavestrough do I need?
Most residential homes in Ontario are fine with 5" troughs and 2x3" downspouts. Larger homes, steep roofs or heavy-rainfall areas may need 6" troughs.
Will leaf guards really stop cleaning?
They dramatically reduce it, but no guard is 100%. A quality micro-filter system needs rinsing roughly once a year rather than full clear-outs twice a year.
Can you redirect downspouts away from the foundation?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Downspouts should discharge a minimum of 1.8m (6 ft) from the foundation, onto a splash block or into an underground drain.
How long does a new eavestrough installation take?
A typical detached home (40 to 60 linear metres of trough) is completed in a single day. Larger homes or projects with soffit or fascia replacement can take 2 to 3 days.
Can you fix an ice-dam problem on my existing roof?
Usually yes, and it is often the eavestrough rather than the roof at fault. Poor fall, undersized troughs and iced-up downspouts create the dam. Proper sizing, heat cables in the downspout and ice-and-water shield at the eaves solve the majority of cases.
Do you install rainwater diverters for gardens?
Yes. Downspout diverters and rain barrels are a popular add-on, especially in homes with vegetable gardens or greenhouses. Food-grade barrels available.
